The other night we decided to finally check out the Bohemia Restaurant. It is only a 5 minute walk from Blue Nile located at Mabanta Arcade, Mc Arthur Highway in Balibago. Bohemia opens at 11 am and closes at 11 pm. You can even call for reservations as well at 323-5778; however, Bohemia is closed on Sundays.

Bohemia is owned by Frank who was originally from Czechoslovakia. He made his escape to the U.S. 27 years ago and, ironically, met his honey ko there where they had a small restaurant too. Frank has been coming here since 2003 in the Philippines. Now, for the past year he opened Bohemia. He is even negotiating a food show on Channel 3 here locally.

The Bohemia restaurant is the ideal place for a business meeting or to take your companion for a romantic meal. Bohemia has ample parking and security.

The indoor section is well air-conditioned and seating for 24 with large tables and fine dining with tasteful decor. There is no smoking in this area for those that wish to eat in a clean air environment. There is a nice ambience of soft music as well.

The bar is well stocked with a variety of good wines and spirits as well as your favourite beers and soft drinks.

There is a very nice outdoor dinning area for those who enjoy a garden setting and for the smokers. Bohemia can cater to parties for up to 44 for weddings, anniversaries or other parties and special events.

This are is well ventilated with ceiling fans and a large waterfall.

The kitchen is very clean and well equipped to prepare your favourite meal.

The waitresses here are very well trained and attentive which makes a pleasant change.

All meals come with complementary, fresh baked bread and a pate or a special cheese spread.

A beautifully presented menu. The menu use to be organized by countries but then changed to various meats and seafood. There is something for everyone from your Filipino food to nice steaks.

We decided to try the following dishes:

Fried Tilapia P275.

It originally came out was a little undercooked but Frank immediately came out and took care of it. He is all about customer satisfaction. The Filipina who seems to be an expert of Tilapia and she said she would give it a 7 out of 10.

Shrimps Curry P350

My date had the Shrimps Curry, extra spicy. She was a little sick, not because of Bohemia’s food, but not feeling well, so we had Shagger’s date rate this dish as well and she again gave it a 7 out of 10.

Russian Beef Tenderloin Steak P475

Shagger had the Russian Beef Tenderloin and he said it was nice and tender and tasted very good. He gave it an 8 out of 10.

Shrimps Marinara P390

I love pasta and wanted to see how the Marinara sauce would turn out as most taste like simple ketchup. I was pleasantly surprised. Nice sauce and big shrimp as well. I would give my dish a 9 out of 10.

Then we topped off the meals with desert.

Apple Pie with Ice Cream P180

Vanilla Ice Cream P95

The bottom-line was the food was alright; anywhere from 7 to 9 out of 10. I think it is definitely worth stopping by for a nice, fine dining experience for a decent price and a great staff and service.
